Eligibility

According to our bylaws, members must be based in the New York metropolitan area and work full-time in an editorial capacity for a news organization to be eligible for membership. Freelancers are eligible if they work primarily as journalists and can provide eight clips annually.  Those who work in PR or any other non-editorial capacity and practice journalism on the side are not eligible. Professors and students of journalism are eligible for associate membership, which carries all the benefits of standard membership but does not carry voting rights.

To Apply:

Once the short online form is completed below, the Board of Directors will review and notify new members via email within two weeks. If accepted, members are prompted to pay dues through PayPal in order to activate your membership and start enjoying the benefits.

Membership is valid for one year from the date of activation. It is renewable each year as long as members continue to meet the club’s eligibility criteria. If a membership lapses, a new application is required for readmission. If members leave New York or take a job outside of journalism, the Newswomen’s Club will honor the membership for the remainder of the year, but not renew it.
